DC PLUGS & SOCKETS

 

We are often asked by customers which socket they need.

 

Some accessories have cigar plugs fitted to them so you are bound by the cigar socket unless you have an adaptor similar to the one listed below. I will list the basic uses of sockets below, see the picture to identify the socket.

 

CIGAR - 21mm inside dimension - 10A recommended as a max load. Easy dislodged or looses connection on rough roads. Used for lights, pumps, phone and camera chargers. Sometimes used for fridges but not recommended due to poor connections and voltage drop.

 

HELLA - 12mm inside dimension - 16A recommended as a max load. Clicks together for a tight vibration resistant connection. Used for lights, pumps, solar panels and other accessories. Used by most fridge manufacturers by removing the red or grey tip from the cigar style fridge plug.

 

ANDERSON - 35mm wide - 50A rated with 2x higher max load. Clicks together for a vibration resistant connection. Used for lights, pumps, solar, inverters, battery chargers, fridges and many other high load applications. 175A units are also available.
